Terminals, pickups and charges

Your Heathrow transfer from Kent, terminal by terminal

A Heathrow airport taxi from Kent takes from about 60 minutes off-peak from Sevenoaks in west Kent, and from about 1 hour 45 minutes from Canterbury in east Kent. Airport Taxi Kent passes your request to licensed private hire operators, and the operator that takes it quotes you and drives you from your door to Terminal 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Which Heathrow terminal will you be dropped off at?

Heathrow has four passenger terminals: 2, 3, 4 and 5. British Airways runs most of its flights from Terminal 5, but airlines move, so check the terminal on your booking and add it to your quote request. You are dropped at the departures forecourt of that terminal.

How do Heathrow drop-off and pickup charges work?

Every vehicle entering a Heathrow terminal drop-off zone pays the Terminal Drop-Off Charge: £7 per visit, and no waiting or pick-ups are allowed there. Pickups from the forecourts are not allowed. At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, arriving passengers are collected from the Terminal Parking car park, which charges on exit. At Terminal 4, where the multi-storey closed in June 2026, the Priority Pick-Up area costs from £7 for up to 10 minutes. [HOLD-QUOTE-RULE: the operator’s quote includes the drop-off charge and any ULEZ charge for the vehicle, so there is nothing extra to pay at the kerb. If you are being collected, the quote also says how any Terminal Parking or Priority Pick-Up charge while the driver waits is charged.]

How long does a Heathrow airport taxi from Kent take?

The usual route is the M25 west, leaving at junction 14 for Terminals 4 and 5 or junction 15 for Terminals 2 and 3, with no Dartford Crossing. Off-peak drive times start from:

  • West Kent (Dartford, Swanley, Sevenoaks): from about 60 minutes off-peak from Sevenoaks, on the M25.
  • Mid Kent (Maidstone, Medway, Tonbridge): from about 70 minutes off-peak from Tonbridge, via the M20, M2, M26 or A21.
  • East Kent (Canterbury, Thanet, Dover): from about 1 hour 45 minutes off-peak from Canterbury, via the M2 or M20.

At weekday peaks, allow 30 to 60 minutes more.

What happens if your flight into Heathrow is delayed?

Give your flight number when you request a quote. Give a valid flight number and the operator monitors your flight, adjusting the collection time at no extra charge, subject to driver availability. Airport collections include up to 60 minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time. After that, waiting may be charged at £5 per 15 minutes, plus any extra airport parking, and the quote sets this out before you accept. Private hire drivers at Heathrow can wait in the Authorised Vehicle Area on the Northern Perimeter Road, then collect from the car park or pick-up area for your terminal.

Will your luggage fit?

Tell us how many passengers and suitcases you have, so the operator can quote for the right size of car. Estate cars, MPVs and other larger vehicles are available for bigger groups and extra luggage, and wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available too.

Why use an airport specialist for Heathrow?

  • Airports only, nothing else

Airport Taxi Kent handles airport transfer requests and nothing else. Every page is built around terminals, pickup points, luggage and flight times, so the questions you have before a flight are already answered.

  • Drive times from your town

You can see the drive time from your town to each of the six London airports, and to Birmingham, East Midlands, Southampton, Bristol, Manchester and Bournemouth. It is the least the journey takes, so you can set your pickup time with a sensible margin for traffic.

  • A quote before you commit

You send your journey details and the operator sends you a quote for that exact journey. Nothing is booked until you accept it, and you can ask about the route, terminal or luggage first.

  • Licensed private hire operators

Airport Taxi Kent passes your request to licensed private hire operators that cover your town. The operator that takes your journey quotes you, confirms your booking and is who you deal with on the day.

Questions before you fly

Heathrow airport taxi questions

A taxi from Kent to Heathrow takes from about 60 minutes off-peak from Sevenoaks, from about 80 minutes from Maidstone, and from about 1 hour 45 minutes from Canterbury. Airport Taxi Kent suggests allowing 30 to 60 minutes more at weekday peaks on the M25.

Give Airport Taxi Kent your pickup address, your Heathrow terminal, your flight number and time, how many passengers are travelling and how many suitcases you are bringing. Add a return journey in the same request if you need collecting. The terminal matters at Heathrow because Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 each have their own forecourt and pickup point.

Yes. Heathrow charges £7 every time a vehicle enters a terminal drop-off zone, including taxis and private hire cars. No waiting or pick-ups are allowed in the drop-off zones. It is paid by card online, by phone or by autopay, not at the terminal.

Terminals 4 and 5 are reached from junction 14 of the M25, and Terminals 2 and 3 from junction 15 via the M4. Airport Taxi Kent passes your terminal to the licensed private hire operator so the driver takes the right exit, and from Kent the route uses no Dartford Crossing; the M25 crosses the Thames at Runnymede, toll-free, just before the Heathrow junctions.

At Heathrow, pickups from the terminal forecourts are not allowed, so arriving passengers at Terminals 2, 3 and 5 are collected from the Terminal Parking car park, and at Terminal 4 from the Priority Pick-Up area. Airport Taxi Kent passes your terminal and flight number to the licensed private hire operator, so the driver goes to the right place.
